During this week-long camp, learn how to make and animate storybooks using the computer! Create your own characters, creatures, and players and empower them to move and identify the location of other characters, sense contact and interact. Use digital images and sound recordings to personalize your story. Also use sensors to create storybooks that respond to their environments. Work with Computer Science faculty, graduate and undergraduate students to learn how to design and build interactive games within your storybook.

Middle School students will explore computing fundamentals while constructing their own storybook. Squeak EToys is a powerful full featured programming language designed with children in mind. During this camp, kids can make drawings come to life. Demonstrations and hands-on activities, coupled with the active imagination of your child, will serve to highlight the art and science of computer programming.

This year we are adding an introduction to PhysicalEtoys which provides a versatile software platform to control Lego Nxt robots within Squeak and Etoys. SqueakNxt communicates over a Bluetooth serial port using the direct command protocol provided by Lego. This communication allows controlling the NXT robot in "real time" and making it interact with the computer.
